Canon A60
Shooting Modes
Canon A60 Shooting Modes are very easy to select. Canon digital cameras are design to have an easy access to each mode. The selection is made with the Mode Dial. Twelve modes are available.
The shooting modes positioned above the Auto (green) mode are part of what Canon calls the Creative Zone. Let's start with the Full Auto Mode:
Auto: is a fully automatic point and shoot mode.
Few camera settings are available as the camera takes
care of just about everything.
Program AE: The camera automatically set the shutter speed and aperture value to match the brightness of the scene.
Shutter Speed Priority AE: In TV mode, the digital camera automatically selects an aperture value to match the brightness.
Faster shutter speeds allow you to catch an instantaneous image of a moving subject while slower speeds create a flowing effect and allow you to shoot without a flash in dark areas.
Aperture Priority AE: When selected, the camera automatically selects a shutter speed to match the brightness.
Selecting a lower aperture value allows you to fade the background and create a beautiful portrait. A higher aperture value brings the entire range from foreground to background into focus.
Manual Mode: Provides complete control over the camera. You can manually set the shutter speed and aperture to achieve a particular effect. Convenient for shooting fireworks and other images where it is difficult to set the correct exposure automatically.
The shooting modes positioned below the Auto (green) mode are part of what Canon calls the Image Zone. These modes are:
Portrait Mode: Use this mode when you want the subject to appear sharp and the background to blur.
Landscape Mode: Use this mode to shoot expansive landscape scenes.
Night Scene Mode: This mode is use to capture human subjects against the backdrop of an evening sky or night scene. The people are illuminated with light from the flash while the backdrop is captured at a slow shutter speed so that both appear correctly exposed.
Fast Shutter Speed: For subjects that are in motion. Shutter speed is fast.
Slow Shutter Speed: Is intended to make moving subjects such as water blur.
Stitch Assist Mode: This mode is use to shoot a series of overlapping frames for merging (stitching) into a large panoramic image using a computer.
The software PhotoStitch is provided with the digital camera.
Movie Mode: Movie Mode allows shooting video clips with sound.
One of the reason why Canon's Digital Cameras are so popular (beside of their quality) it's because they are so easy to use.You don't need to be a professional photographer to take great shots with the Canon A60.

Case
I recommend to get a proper case to carry your digital camera. It will protect your camera, you can also store your memory card and batteries in the case which is convenient.
Rechargeable batteries and charger They are also a good buy when you have a digital camera Canon A60. They are now very affordable, a bit more expensive than the regular batteries but in the long run, you will save money.
MemoryWhen you a buy a digital camera Canon A60, 16MB of memory is supplied. Set on high resolution, you will take approximately 15 photos which is not much when you own a digital camera. I suggest getting a 256MB. You will be able to take approximately 250 pictures before having to download or delete any photos. You can get a 256MB for about $50.00. The type of memory card for a Canon A60 is CompactFlash.
